LunaBarge / The Kirals / Billy Watman / Moonaroon
LunaBarge
LunaBarge are a double-stomping, Quirk-Folk duo. They are armed with banjo, guitar, ukulele, 2 voices and 2 stomp boxes – all frolicking like a couple of critters on a swamp. They bring you their earworms covering topics such as date disasters, dinosaurs, holidays in space and the London Underground in hope that they will bring out your very best foot taps, slow head nods and beard strokes (if you should happen to possess a beard).
The Kirals
Emerging from the vibrant music and arts scene in Oxford, England, The Kirals was formed by singer-songwriters Jon Heffernan (guitar, vocals) and Ally Baker (banjo, piano, vocals). With a joint love of vocal harmony and influenced by the rich Americana/folk movement that has been building in the UK over the last ten years, they set about creating a distinctive melody and harmony-focussed style enhanced by the addition of accordionist Lisa Harker.
The Kirals were one of the first acts we welcomed abroad Progress for a fantastic session last season, videos of which can be viewed here.
Billy Watman
Billy Watman is a London based award winning 20 year old Anglo-Brazilian classical / fingerstyle instrumental guitarist. An experienced live performer, he has performed live at numerous iconic UK music venues, including the legendary Abbey Road Studio number 2 of Beatles fame, London’s Royal Festival Hall, The Cavern Club, and performed at numerous UK and European festivals, including Latitude Festival, Towersey Festival, Musikmesse (Frankfurt), The Acoustic Festival of Britain’, the iconic Ullapool Guitar Festival (Scotland) and The Henley Festival.
Billy last joined us aboard Progress at The Jericho Book Fair where he blew us all away with his exceptional guitar playing and arrangements of popular songs played in a classical style, videos from that session can be viewed here.
