Emerging from the vibrant music and arts scene in Oxford, England, The Kirals was formed by singer-songwriters Jon Heffernan (guitar, vocals) and Ally Baker (banjo, piano, vocals). With a joint love of vocal harmony and influenced by the rich Americana/folk movement that has been building in the UK over the last ten years, they set about creating a distinctive melody and harmony-focussed style enhanced by the rhythmic double bass work of Dave Gaydon, and latterly with the addition of accordionist Lisa Harker.
